What type of a job can you expect as an engineer?

Well chances are you wont be in the same place every day. Engineers often have to visit sites of interest as part of their jobs. They may visit a water treatment plant, an industrial plant, a site of a new construction, a different country as part of their work.
Using their hands and their heads

Engineers need to be good at problem solving. This can take many forms. Problems shared with the team of people you work with is one way of solving a problem. You will aready do this at school as part of project work. Sometimes discussing a problem with other people can make it instantly clearer, you can use their expertise to think of new solutions you would not have thought of on your own.

Using maths is also an important factor of an engineers working life. They often use calculations to make sure that their work is accurate. A chemical engineer needs to know that the amount of different chemicals they use is correct. A civil engineer needs to know the bridge they are building will be strong enough for the heaviest loads they plan to transport across it.

Computers feature in everyone’s work these day, engineers design computers and computer software to work more efficiently for us.
