Who arranges the school visits?

STEPS arrange the volunteer visits on your behalf.

How are the visits organised?

A member of the STEPS team will contact you to arrange a suitable school and time.  We liaise with the school on your behalf.  We recommend that you ring the school you are visiting a couple of days in advance of you visit to confirm the visit,  number of students and what technical equipment the school has. 

Can I choose a specific school?

Yes, if you wish to visit a particular school please email Emily Seward – eseward@engineersireland.ie. 

How many times a year would a volunteer be expected to partake in activities?

You can volunteer as much or as little as you wish.  There is no minimum number of visits that that a volunteer must complete. 

What activities can I get involved in during Engineers Week?

There are numerous events being run around the country during Engineers Week.  We require speakers for libraries around Ireland.  We require volunteers to go to schools during Volunteer day.  We also require volunteers for events that will be running throughout the week.
