Volunteering Opportunities
& Role Descriptions

We offer a wide range of opportunities for engineers to get involved in, from school visits, career fairs and helping buddy/support other volunteers. Currently, we have opportunities in the following areas:

1
. Role Models - Primary School
Visit children in their own classroom and talk to children about the diverse and exciting career opportunities engineering offers.

2. Smart Futures Role Model - Secondary School
All STEPS post-primary activity is part of the national Smart Futures programme. Volunteer engineers visit students in their own classroom.

3. Career Fair Leader
STEPS are invited to a number of career events around the country during the year and need volunteers to manage the stand. Volunteers will be dealing with other volunteers arriving to volunteer at the stand and school students, teachers and parents looking for information.

4. Career Fair Volunteer
STEPS are invited to a number of career events during the school year and need volunteers to help out on the stands. Volunteers will talk to students directly.

5. Engineers Week Volunteer
Engineers Week 2017 will run during March 2017. The STEPS team organise a number of events and talks throughout the week and volunteers are required to join our team to make a valuable contribution to the nationwide campaign. Volunteers will be dealing with teachers and students.

6. Organisation Lead
As the organisation lead, you are  the key internal contact within your engineering organisation for the STEPS programme

Smart Futures

Smart Futures is a collaborative government – industry - education programme promoting STEM careers to post primary students in Ireland.  It is managed and delivered by Science Foundation Ireland in partnership with the Engineers Ireland STEPS programme. All STEPS post-primary activity is part of the national Smart Futures Programme.
